FAQ’s (Frequently Asked Questions)

Where do you purchase your ring supplies?

All sterling silver, copper, and bronze wire used on individual items is purchased from the United States. Other rings, to include: anodized aluminum, bright aluminum, niobium, titanium, enameled copper, enameled silvered copper, stainless steel, and rubber, are purchased pre-cut or pre-made from either the US or Canada.

How do I care for sterling silver items?

For chain mail:
Use a jewelry polish cloth to remove unwanted tarnish (patina). After wear, gently wash item between your palms with soapy water. Pat dry with a soft hand towel and allow to dry overnight. Store jewelry in a resealable (ziplock) bag with an anti-moisture/tarnish strip.

For sterling silver plated beaded jewelry:
Do not use polishing cloths to remove tarnish as it may remove the silver plating from the glass beads. Use the following instructions to remove tarnish (patina):

1.) Place a sheet of foil in a small pie tin.
2.) Lay the jewelry on the foil and cover completely with boiling water.
3.) Sprinkle baking soda on jewelry and watch the tarnish (patina) magically disappear. Turn jewelry over and repeat the baking soda process.
4.) Wash jewelry gently between palms with soapy water. Pat dry with a soft hand towel and allow to dry overnight or until all moisture is completely gone.
5.) Store beaded item in a zip lock bag with a carbon (or other anti-moisture/tarnish) strip. Do not store any other jewelry in the same bag. Do not store beaded sterling silver jewelry in a zip lock bag without carbon (or other anti-moisture/tarnish) strip as it will tarnish.

How do I care for bronze, brass and copper?

Bronze will tarnish (or form a dark patina) as it is exposed to oxygen over time. For some, the tarnished look is agreeable and a paste wax can be applied sparingly (Simichrome) to maintain the look. But for those who desire a shinier appearance, there is another way to clean the metal.

  • Begin by cleaning item gently with a jewelry polishing cloth.
  • Wash jewelry gently between your palms under running water using miild hand detergent. Pat dry with hand towel.
  • In a small bowl, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of baking soda and a few drops of fresh lemon juice. Form a paste and apply it to the jewelry, gently brushing with a toothbrush or cloth. Leave jewelry sit in bowl (with paste on), for approximately 15 to 30 minutes (depending on the outcome you desire). Rinse and pat dry.
  • Vinegar can also be used to soak the jewelry prior to gently scrubbing with the toothbrush and baking soda mixture.
  • Once jewelry is completely clean, store it in a small resealable (ziplock) bag with an anti-tarnishing strip.

How do I care for stainless steel, aluminum, niobium, titanium and enameled copper?

After wear, gently wash item between palms using a mild hand detergent. Pat dry with a soft hand towel and allow to dry overnight. Store jewelry in a resealable (ziplock) bag with an anti-tarnishing strip.

How many items are in stock regarding each listing? Will an order need to be custom made?

There are only one each of the current listings in stock (unless otherwise specified).  If you require more than one each of a particular item, it may (though not always) extend the shipping time.   The minimum timeframe for a custom order  is 2 to 4 weeks; the maximum is 6 to 8 weeks.  At Anne Gregory Jewelry we try our utmost to ship orders within 7 to 10 days but vendor inventories may preclude our best intentions.  Customers will always be notified by email if an order will be shipped later than 10 days.

How do I measure for foot jewelry?

  1. Measure your ankle as you would for an anklet (you want a comfortable, not tight fit).  Clasps are generally 0.5-inches (1.27 cm) so take that into consideration when giving the final assessment.
  2. Measure the distance from the anklet to the base of the toe (should be around 4-inches +/-).
  3. Measure your toe for the loop that will attach to the ankle portion of the thong (should be around 2.5-inches +/-). The loop should large enough to slide on and off your toe easily.

Tip: Use string for each measurement. Cut each piece then tie the sections together for an accurate measurement.
